What they're saying about Daniel Pyle
DISMEMBER
“DISMEMBER’S a fast-paced grindhouse-movie of a book with plenty of unexpected twists and turns and a fresh new crazy for a villain. The late Richard Laymon would have been grinning ear to ear.”
—Jack Ketchum, multiple Bram Stoker Award-winning author of THE GIRL NEXT DOOR and THE WOMAN
“With DISMEMBER, Daniel Pyle joins the select group of authors who can provide real chills and genuine surprises. Taut, weird, and intriguing.”
—Jonathan Maberry, multiple Bram Stoker Award-winning author of THE KING OF PLAGUES and ROT & RUIN
“The tourniquet-tight plot and constant suspense keeps the pages flying. A solid, suspenseful thriller that enables readers to envision the movie it could become.”
—Publishers Weekly
DOWN THE DRAIN
“Pyle’s tight little monster tale packs a nasty wallop.”
—Michael Louis Calvillo, author of AS FATE WOULD HAVE IT and BLEED FOR YOU
“Horror should be fun. Scary, of course...but above all, it should be fun. Too many people seem to have forgotten that. Well, Daniel Pyle has not forgotten. With his novella, DOWN THE DRAIN, Pyle has crafted a tale that evokes all the eye-popping strangeness and excitement that got me into horror in the first place. I loved it, and I can guarantee you’ll never look at your bathtub the same again.”
—Joe McKinney, author of APOCALYPSE OF THE DEAD and FLESH EATERS
Mountain Madness eBook Daniel Pyle
With Mountain Madness, Daniel Pyle has a winner. Although, I hated the first story's end;and the second story was FAR too gruesome for me. Just because of the gruesome factor, I probably won't be exploring any more of Mr. Pyle's books. Once again, you can't beat the price on Bookbub!Product details

Mountain Madness eBook Daniel Pyle Reviews
I had a great time with this! It was exactly what I wanted to read. Dang, what a fun book! I know this isn't a flowery review, but this isn't a flowery book and I'm not about spoiling anything for another reader.
I had already previously read Freeze, and enjoyed it. Dismember was awesome. The characters in these stories were so rich and believable. I plan on reading everything this man puts out. Great stories!!!
I read "Dismember" from this collection (I haven't gotten the guts to read the second one yet) and it is by far the scariest, creepiest book I have ever read. I had nightmares. He writes in such a way that your heart starts beating, and your palms start sweating. It is an excellent read, written so well and so detailed (but not so detailed that you get bored) and I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes thriller/suspense/horror. Excellent read!
I enjoyed this book it is actually 2 stories the first one has got to be every parents worst nightmare. I found the pacing in both stories to be good an left you wanting to read on till the end without stopping. They are gritty and fast paced. The first story could happen to any person out there in real life making it very scary and realistic and the second is more like a alien or supernatural horror story but still scary. I recommend this book to any horror story lover out there.Mountain Madness
I really hate books like this -- ones that I get so engrossed in that I can't stop reading and my world around me goes to crap (OK, it didn't get too bad, because luckily I read fast) I have always loved a good horror story, and the two included in Mountain Madness are very good.
Dismember has strong, believable characters put in terrifying situations. Daniel Pyle makes the scenes come alive with his very detailed narration of the action. He gives just enough information about how the main character came to be, without it being gratuitous.
Freeze has given me another reason to hate the snow and be thankful I live in a warm climate.
I will definitely be on the lookout for more from this author.
I dont review to many books but this one had two awesome stories.I got hooked on first page and couldn't put it down.Daniel pyle is a awesome storyteller. Will read more from this author. Only thing wrong was they ended to soon. Now dont know what to read that can be as good as these !
It's interesting to me that the compilation of these two stories got higher ratings than the individual stories. I enjoyed both tales though they were not without their shortcomings. The positive I enjoyed the author's writing style. He does know how to create suspense and I felt his descriptions at times (ex., during the blizzard) really placed me in the scene. That being said, I felt at times there were subplots in Dismember that went on too long (the mall scene) or didn't need to be included at all (the attack scene in the mother's house). Remove or at least pare down those scenes and there would be ample space to give us more critical information. For example, what was Mr. Boots motivation in taking Davey and what happened to Davey over those twenty years? And, in Freeze, what is the origin or at least some explanation for the ice monsters? For me, these monsters are so out of the ordinary that some explanation of their existence is a requirement. But my biggest complaint, with both stories, are the abrupt endings. I'm guessing the author prefers to leave the endings open to the reader's interpretation but with Freeze in particular the ending is so abrupt it almost seems like the story went unfinished. Or maybe the idea is to leave these stories open to enable sequels. If so I'd like to know that I'm reading the beginning of a series before I commit my time to the first book.
Again, I enjoyed the suspense and if some readers feel I'm being too critical it's because I do see a lot of positives and I'd like to see even better stories down the road. I'm not sure, though, I can commit to reading more from this author if the stories all end the same way.
With Mountain Madness, Daniel Pyle has a winner. Although, I hated the first story's end;and the second story was FAR too gruesome for me. Just because of the gruesome factor, I probably won't be exploring any more of Mr. Pyle's books. Once again, you can't beat the price on Bookbub!
